How it stays local
Locks talk to the hub over Thread. Unlocking at the door, on a schedule or from your phone at home needs no internet. Remote unlock while you are away goes through your Apple Home hub, end to end encrypted.

We keep the physical keyway. A smart lock should never be the only way into your own house.
